That’s why we take the time to educate each client about the types of fire sprinkler systems that best meet their needs in terms of protecting lives and property. Commercial and Residential Installation

We design, install, service, maintain, and inspect a full spectrum of fire sprinkler systems for commercial and residential spaces.

One such example is a Foam Fire Suppression System. This is a type of wet sprinkler system that combines both water and a foaming agent for large-scale fire extinguishment. This water-based fire sprinkler suppression system can extinguish extensive fires in mere seconds with incredible efficiency.

Design

The initial step in every project undertaken by Xcel Fire Protection is creating a comprehensive design plan based on a thorough evaluation of existing on-site facilities or a new construction blueprint analysis. Professional design specialists develop efficient fire protection systems that meet all applicable codes and regulations, balancing design with the objectives of the company. Each design plan will adhere to established budgeting, environmental and insurance guidelines.

Project Management

Our team of expert project managers are experienced in guiding each client and contractor through each portion of the project. These individuals organize every aspect of the project, from the initial planning phases to completion, to ensure that the project is completed on time and within budget guidelines.

Building Information Models (BMI)

Our innovative, state-of-the-art design facility has the capacity to render our design drawings in 3D for the review of designers, contractors, and clients. These designs can be modified to reflect the exact nature of the current project and will display the necessary construction for project completion. Our experienced design professionals are available through every step of the design process.

Building Retrofit

Retrofitting an existing structure for updated fire protection system is a common occurrence as safety is paramount for many companies. A heightened awareness of the need for fire protection has caused many clients to contact Xcel Fire Protection to identify issues and solve problems before it causes damage to people or property. Our project managers will work with you to minimize disruptions to your staff, production, work schedules, and/or tenants.

Early Suppression Fast Response (ESFR)

ESFR sprinkler systems are mounted on the ceiling and can be used in place of traditional in-rack fire sprinkler systems in warehouses and other industrial buildings. The protection offered by ESFR sprinkler systems far exceeds that of in-rack fire sprinkler systems because of their high-output, high-volume nature. Large, high-pressure sprinkler heads are in ceiling spaces to provide the necessary protection for the entire area.

Deluge Fire Sprinkler System

Deluge fire sprinkler systems are used in areas considered highly hazardous, such as power plants, chemical storage facilities, chemical processing facilities, and aircraft hangars. These systems pump water at a high velocity through open sprinkler heads after the deluge valve is opened by the heat or smoke detection system to suppress the spread of fire. The system must be connected to an ample water supply to provide the amount needed for this type of fire suppression system.

In-Rack Fire Sprinkler System

In-rack fire sprinkler systems contain a fire to a particular area and extinguish it after the heat generated by the fire triggers the operation of the sprinkler system. These systems effectively reduce the amount of damage and risk of injury from the fire by preventing the spread of the fire to other areas. Fires spread quickly and generate large amounts of heat in a short period of time, so an effective fire suppression system is needed to limit the loss of life and property.

Dry-Pipe Fire Sprinkler System

Dry-pipe fire sprinkler systems use pressurized air or nitrogen to hold a dry pipe valve closed and prevent water from entering the pipe until a fire is detected. Once the fire has triggered the sprinkler system to operate, water rushes past the now opened valves to flow through the open pipes onto the fire. Dry pipe fire sprinkler systems offer immediate protection in areas prone to freezing temperatures. Typical installations include outside exposed loading docks, unheated warehouses, and commercial freezers.

Pre-Action Fire Sprinkler System

Pre-action fire sprinkler systems operate on the same basic premise as dry-pipe fire sprinkler systems. The water is held back by an electronic valve controlled by the heat or smoke detection unit. Individual sprinkler heads are opened to release the water onto the areas where it is most needed and concentrate the flow of water directly onto the fire. These fire suppression systems are commonly installed in freezer warehouses.

Wet-Pipe Fire Sprinkler System

Wet-pipe fire sprinkler systems are the most commonly used fire sprinkler systems because of their simplicity and reliability. Wet-pipe fire sprinkler systems contain the least number of components, reducing the risk of malfunction when the system lies dormant for long periods of time. The maintenance required to keep the system in good working condition is less than for some more complicated types of fire suppression systems. Due to the simplicity of these systems, they can be installed quickly and require less service time.

Installation Team

Xcel Fire Protection provides skilled and experienced installation professionals for every project undertaken. Our field-certified installation experts will install your project quickly while ensuring that everything is working as it should. FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How long have you been in business?

Xcel Fire Protection has been designing, installing, and servicing sprinkler systems throughout New England for over 30 years.

We’re proud of our history and our experience. We welcome the opportunity to show you how we can help reduce or eliminate the fire danger in your commercial, industrial, or residential space.

Are your staff members licensed and certified?

Absolutely.

Our staff is comprised of licensed sprinkler fitters, NICET-certified designers trained in all the modern, state-of-the-art techniques and applications, and inspectors and estimators who are NFPA 25-certified.

We offer a robust in-house apprenticeship training program for our trainees.

I need your help. Can you get me an accurate estimate quickly so I can stay focused on running my business?

Of course. We offer free estimates for all your fire protection needs, including the design, installation, service and/or inspection of your fire protection needs. Please contact us for more information or email us at: estimating@xcelfire.com

Does your design team follow set standards and guidelines?

Yes. All our systems are strictly designed using NFPA standards. We are staffed with NICET certified design team which uses state-of-the-art equipment.

Our goal is to consistently meet – if not exceed – the highest industry standards and codes as set by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).

Our design team is experienced in keeping your aesthetic concerns met.

What is the NFPA 25 standard?

For water-based fire protection systems, NFPA 25 is the required testing standard.

How often should I be inspecting our fire sprinkler system?

Fire sprinkler systems require quarterly visual inspections plus semi-annual and yearly testing.  Our team designs an assessment and testing program to ensure local and state compliance standards.

What is the difference between visual inspections and NFPA 25 inspections/testing?

Visual inspections are required once a month to confirm the pressure gauges are in the correct ranges, ensure all valves are in the open position and document any visual defects or obstructions. NFPA25 is an extensive examination of the sprinkler system (in addition to the visual inspections), that occurs quarterly and annually.

Will we receive a copy of our inspection report?

We provide you with a copy of the report and post an easily-accessible copy in the sprinkler system mechanical room which meets the NFPA25 requirements.
